KARACHI - The recent wave of
target killings continued in the metropolis on Friday and
fearless shooters killed 19 more people belonging to
different parties and working class.
The routine life at Orangi Town, Qasba
Mor and other surrounding areas remained suspended and the
residents preferred to stay at home. According to the area
people, despite deployment of heavy contingent of law
enforcement agencies aerial firing was witnessed in these
areas.
The residents claimed that police and
rangers personnel became silent spectators when unidentified
armed men resorted to aerial firing at plying buses and
working class of the area belonging to different ethnic
backgrounds including Urdu speaking and Pashtuns. They
blamed that the government had itself sparked this new wave
of target killings to manoeuvre political benefits.
According to details, Major (Retd) Iqbal
Kashmiri son of Ghani Kashmiri was shot dead near Rabia
City, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, within the jurisdiction of Sharah-e-Faisal
Police Station. The victim was pilot of Sindh Chief
Minister’s helicopter and an employee of Civil Aviation
Authority (CAA). He was resident of Block-18,
Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The incident took place at around 11:30
a.m. when he wearing CAA uniform was on the way to home from
office.
Police officials quoting an eyewitness
said that two culprits riding a motorcycle opened fire at
the victim’s vehicle, bearing registration number AMD-124,
from the back. Resultantly he sustained two bullets and died
on the spot. His body was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate
Medical Centre and later handed over to his family after an
autopsy. Police also found four empty shells of 30-bore
pistol from the crime scene.
In another incident, an activist of
Pakistan People’s Party was gunned down inside a barbershop
at Block-K in the remits of Sharah-e-Noor Jahan Police
Station. The victim was identified as Naveed alias Noori son
of Sami. He was resident of the same area. His body was
moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police said the victim was
Deputy Secretary General of District West PPP.
Likewise two people were shot dead in
separate incidents of firing in the jurisdiction of Korangi
Industrial Area Police Station. The victims included
Mohammad Shafiq alias Munna, 40, a resident of Korangi
Industrial Area, and an unidentified Pashtun. Shafiq died on
the spot when he received three bullets while unidentified
Pashtun, an elderly man, was gunned down near Jam Sadiq
Bridge. His body was shifted to Edhi morgue after legal
formalities at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
His
destination was a Safeway store — and a violent
confrontation with Gabrielle Giffords.
16 suspects
arrested in rangers, police joint operation in Karachi
Rangers and police launched joint search
operation in different areas of Karachi and arrested 16
suspicious people after spree of target killing for last two
days in which over 25 people were killed.
As per details, after the several
incidents of target killing in Karachi for last two days,
and killing of 25 innocent people including a private TV
channel reporter Wali Khan Babar, ranger and police launched
joint search operation in different areas of Orangi Town and
arrested 16 suspicious people here on Saturday.
According to a sores, at least 16 people
have been arrested on the suspicion of target killing and
firing at Qasba Moor. During the search operation,
additional ranger and police force were being called in the
area in this connection.
Police sources told that, the operation
started after clear information about the presence target
killers in the area from two arrested target killers. SP
Orangi Town told to media that, the operation has been
conducted on secret basis and the arrested persons are in
the custody of ranger and police who will investigate from
them.He added that heavy amount of weapons have also been
recovered from their possession
Third force
igniting lawlessness in Karachi: Rehman Malik

Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik
has said some third force is trying to ignite lawlessness in
Karachi. Talking to media after his arrival in Karachi on
Saturday, Malik said that the incidents of target killings
being analyzed. He said the investigators have found clues
in murder probe of Wali Khan Babar. Earlier, Rehman Malik
met with JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad and
discussed the situation in Karachi. According to sources,
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the government has failed to
maintain law and order in Karachi, he however, offer to play
role for restoration of peace in Karachi.
Karachi: MQM
demands arrest of all target killers
MQM leader Gul Faraz Khatak said that
people’s revolution was spreading speedily across the
country and some evil elements were trying to stop this
revolution. He condemned the killing of Syed Badshah. In a
press conference after the meeting of MQM Rabta Committee,
Gul appealed MQM activists to remin calm after Badshah’s
murder. He demanded the government to arrest the killers of
Syed Badshah. He said that Karachi’s peace was being
destroyed |
